Fresh off the heels of her standing-room-only residency at The Living Room, Mary Bragg is now preparing for the release of her third studio album, with producer Lee Alexander (Norah Jones, Amos Lee) at the helm.
Brooklyn based Americana singer-songwriter Mary Bragg grew up in a big musical family in Swainsboro, Georgia and her songs are a testament to her southern upbringing. Making stops along the way in Athens, Atlanta, and Nashville, she planted her feet in New York in 2004, shortly after releasing her debut album, Certain Simple Things, with co-writer, engineer and producer Dave Haywood (Lady Antebellum).
Her sophomore release, Sugar, arrived in 2007 after a collaboration and love story with her bassist and co-writer, now husband, Jimmy Sullivan. Produced by Sullivan and Darius Jones, Sugar has earned her several industry nods including an Honorable Mention in the International Songwriting Competition, the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (Emerging Artists Showcase), and the Wildflower! Festival (finalist in the Performing Songwriter Competition).
To hear Mary live is to experience the freshest talent emerging from the Americana scene. Drawing comparisons to Patty Griffin and Mindy Smith, Mary is quickly making her mark with her powerful voice, gut-wrenching lyrics and rotating all-star band including New York's best - Jimmy Sullivan, Rich Hinman, Steve Elliot, Adam Levy, Jordan Perlson, Brian Wolfe, Tony Mason, Mike Cassedy, Marika Hughes, Aaron Lee Tasjan, and John Kengla.
