Korby and I met on a gig a couple of years ago in Nashville when I was on the road. Jimmy and I were immediately taken with his tasteful guitar playing and catchy songs and knew we wanted to keep in touch with him. Then, a few weeks ago when I was back in Nashville on a writing trip, Korby and I collaborated on a Lyle Lovett tune and had a big time. See the video here.

A true songsmith and builder of community, Korby recently started producing a video series called “Wigby”, featuring a number of his incredibly talented friends like Katie Herzig, Matthew Perryman Jones and Sarah Siskind, and I’m thrilled that he’s bringing his music to New York for this special show. It’s a big month for me – this afternoon, I’m heading to Nashville for a writing trip (read: cowrites with friends, meetings with business people, general southern gallivanting). Next Friday, Jimmy & I are playing in the band for our friend Colin McGrath‘s CD release show (we *love* this record, plus I sang on it!). On Feb 21, the second “Mary Bragg With…” show is happening at The Living Room, and on February 25, I’m turning 30. YOWSA!

Meet Adam Levy
A cowriter of mine for less than two years, Adam and I have become great friends since we first connected at a show of his at Banjo Jim’s (RIP). Known for his incredible guitar playing on records and tours for folks like Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman and countless others, Adam ventured into writing his own songs a few years ago and has become quite the artist. Together we’ve penned some of my favorite MB songs to date, including potentially my favorite – The General. I feel incredibly blessed to count him as a friend and cowriter, and I’m thrilled to introduce him to you as my February “with” guest, fresh off his big CD release show at Joe’s Pub.

then they’ll play some more
before the Mary Bragg band plays a full set.

The ticket price of $15 (plus tax) includes two sets of full band music plus snacks and drinks. This is an all ages show, and kids are free. Doors open at 5; show starts at 5:30. There is limited capacity – advance tickets are strongly recommended.

Irene hit some places far worse than others. Musician extraordinaire Martin Rivas has organized a huge benefit compilation for the central NY state area that was badly damaged by the storm. I’m so happy to be a part- my tune “Hurricane” is on there, plus songs from 42 other NYC singer-songwriters trying to help out. The compilation is available for a minimum donation of $15, and all proceeds go directly to that area’s Red Cross chapter, specific to flood relief.
